I have stumbled upon this newly found notion that life can be deemed somewhat analogous to the unappealing concept of consumer capitalism.
You know, that consumer capitalistic propensity where we, as a human race, are satisfied only for as long as forever21 holds their ‘flared suede leggings’ in their "Newly Realesed" section of their UNEXPECTEDLY organized website.
Or, I guess to make this more relatable to the male counterpart,
We are SATISFIED for AS LONG AS zumiez holds the thigh high, skin tight, vivacious-like pair of banana patterned booty shorts that us girls can't stop dRooLiNg over now a days..
Or maybe that’s just an IV thing?
As a materialistically famished generation,
We continue to buy..
And buy..
And, uh,
Did I mention..
buy?
We do so In order to cater to that underlying dopamine addiction we so irrefutably possess.
A dopamine addiction induced by:
*Cue the lights*
A subtle swipe of, yet another, maxed out ‘chase freedom’ credit card.
Don’t worry, they’ll allow you to open another one.
Although, whether your financially incompetent a$$ decides to do so? Well, that‘ll be based upon your own discretion.
Though, I encourage you to think wisely and maturely.
...which, what does ‘wisely and maturely’ ultimately entail?
SWIPE SWIPE BABY!
....
wait..
actually,
I feel it is in your best interest NOT to take financial advice from yours truly.
So,
Well..
Maybe disregard all that I have said thus far?
For it was my twin brother who was gifted with all things 'financial competence', not I..
..so with that being said, I think..
Periodt.
ANYWHO,
Back to reality!
Okay, I'm done!
Or am I...
AS I WAS SAYING
I embody this ideology where I truly believe that life can deem somewhat analogous to the idea of CONSUMAH CAPITALITHM.
Though, perceive all that I am theoreticising with a discrete notion that I am, contrary to popular belief, an outsider looking in.
Outsider looking in??
..Into what exactly???
Into the life of a beloved.
That beloved being, in this case, my mother.
![]() |
| Look at her bad self gooo |
In attempting to exemplify how in the hell our existence could deem such an uncanny resemblance to such an impertinent concept, I will be writing all that I am writing whilst valiantly attempting to think vicariously through the eye’s of my bodacious mother.
Let me try to explain this using an example.
My good ole mother found my good ole sibling’s wax pen.
(Will refrain from disclosing WHICH sibling, on the off chance that ole lady may happens to stumble upon this excerpt. Shit would be bad guys, REAL bad. Also, they wouldn't give me the green light to disclose their identity, so if this blog is not what you had imagined it to be and then some, blame my brother
..or my sister? Ah, Gotcha! )
hehe.
If you know me, then you have some idea as to how naive and strict my mom is in regards to all things periphernalia.
(paraphernalia. What a word.)
I decided to go home on the eve of such an indicidence.
Did
Not
Hear
The
End
Of
It
Though as I sat contemplating, yet again, why my mother sits there with smoke steaming out of both ears, and -disclaimer- why my dumbass decided to go home, I found my train of thought shifting into a more wholesome view on this entity we call life.
It dawned on me.
She fears what nearly every other living being on this earth fears.
..Death.
My sibling’s death to be exact.
But why?
Why are we so eager to react towards things that are very much irrelevent to our INDIVIDUAL existence?
The vaping has no effect on my mom’s overall health.
Second hand smoke is undeniably preventable with such a device.
So, again, I ask myself..
I realized, it’s our complete and utter -LACK- OF AWARENESS- for the role that attachment plays in the relationships we cultivate.
My sibling’s soulfulness.
My sibling’s humor
My sibling’s big hearted demeanor.
It is all of these characteristics and more, that engenders such an unwarranted sense of fear-
My sibling’s humor
My sibling’s big hearted demeanor.
It is all of these characteristics and more, that engenders such an unwarranted sense of fear-
..fear of what exactly?
Of Detachment.
Of Uncomfortability.
Much easier to settle for comfortability then to provoke the latter.
Much easier to settle for comfortability then to provoke the latter.
Anyway,
I then, somehow, managed to compare such a situation to:
Wait for it..
Consumer capitalism!
"Mom is being an asshole..."
"Why tf is mom being an assho- ..."
"Why does she keep unapologetically talking about my sisters demise’ .."
Shit. Well, ya. Cats out the bag. Sorry sis.

Back to where I was.
Epiphany!
It clicked!
The light bulb is on!
Twenty two years full of an ample amount of memories and experiences, though all of which are STILL not
..enough?
And Just Like That!
Consumer capitalism has officially been compared to that of a single, living, being!
Side note: you probably think I am utterly annoying, utterly lost, utterly insane, or utterly brilliant.
For the purpose of this blog, I am going to assume:
UTTERLY BRILLIANT!
Although, how the *censored* did this conversation just jump to this tangential concept of consumer capitalism????
I watched this documentary a few weeks back.
It was called "Minimalism"
(Cool soundtrack too now that think about it.)
It touched up on how we, as a human race, act off this subliminal desire to replace something that is good, with something that is notably ‘better’.

****Ya, platform shoes are a major mood. Dont @ me...****
But why the sudden inkling to upgrade a perfectly good pair of shoes, which, mind you, come from the
exact
same
brand?
Fast fashion, my friends.
Ah yes!
Fast! Fashion!

Each day, the trend is revamped. We, as an image driven society, NEED TO KEEP UP with these revamping trends.
Mmm, oddly enough, it IS you.
Tube tops on a Tuesday become Crop top Tees on a Thursday.
It is Fast fashion that has indiscriminately taken over the future of retail without us even realizing that it is our own proclivities that have lead to such a revolutionary shift within this corporate driven society.
You’re probably sitting here thinking
"k siq, fast fashion is interesting or whatever but like..
....what in the world does it have to do with your intended message..?"
First and foremost, sorry for all the mashugana listed above, but lowkey (highkey) had to preface the perception I am about to delve into.
So here goes it.
Comparatively, we want people to live longer because one encounter, or two,
OR MAYBE EVEN THREE
Is just simply not enough to ultimately satiate our emotional and intellectual desires.
Ever wonder why it is incredibly difficult to detach from an ex?
A late relative?
A friend?
Humans are creatures of habit. How we approach consumerism, relationships..
It is all a product of the habitual tendencies that we have fortuitously adopted.
THAT is ultimately THE WHY when trying to explain how our minds, independent of our true self, is always longing for more.
Making sense yet?
Riddle me this,
We get upset when the people in our lives do things that pose a threat to their overall being.
Although,
What if that said person is okay with their imprudent choices; that this individual is willing to sacrifice his/her lifespan in order to simply enjoy the ‘now’ ?
That is fine.
Totally
completely
And without an undeniable doubt,
~Fine~
Why???
Bc it is THEIR life.
THEIR decisions.
So, back to my original question..
Why is it bothersome when our advisories are unacknowledged?
When the actions of others, completely independent of our selves, is something we infelicitously stress over?
My two cents:
We enjoy their presence.
We Fear a life without them.
We Fear a life without their humor.
Without Their compassion.
Be that as it may, it is an indirect affirmation that humans ARE, in fact, inevitably selfish (Sylvia Friend).
Though, not with malicious intent.
Not in the slightest bit.
We ALL instinctively act in such a way.
Keyword: All.
Keyword: Instinctively.
Also, note that it does not waiver from the underlying notion that we care, because we DO care.
Palpably so.
However, it does manifest this discrepancy amongst our intentions.
A memory is not ample without being ~given the opportunity~ to essentially create another one. We are hungry for more. One experience will provoke an indirect desire to form another, and another, and most likely another after that.
Kinda like the domino effect?
Maybe?
And just like that
BAM!
A topic destined for juxtapositional expression, has been comparatively exemplified as being somewhat correlative.
Essentially, I just formed a now 'existing' relationship between our eagerness to maintain and protect relationships with people that we love, to that of our consumer capitalistic tendencies.
You guys probably think Im insane.
OR
Utterly brillaint...
But then again,
We probably all think in this way.
I might just be the handful who chooses to express it.
So, for those who have gotten this far,
You have now gained a subtle sense as to why I might find myself dwelling upon our relationship.
A probable reason why I, along with many of you, so carelessly double, triple, or shit,
maybe even quadruple text..
...not cute?
Well,
To put it lightly,
I guess I just simply
CANNOT
GET
-ENOUGH-
OF
YOU.
For those who have gotten this far, tease my brain about your thoughts on the matter!
..please?
For those you have NOT gotten this far,
I hope the shopping spree you had previously embarked on, over-drafted your checking account...
Too harsh?
???
well...
I, uh,
I..
..And I OOP-
Thanks for reading!
Till next time!
Best regards,
Tal.
